fall is my favorite time of year. crisp apples, autumn colors, pumpkin flavoring, layers upon layers... it's just heavenly. although it's still in the 70's in my neck of the woods, my trip to michigan got me in the cold weather mindset. this season i am loving deep colors [oxblood and hunter green], long sweaters and patterned tights. also on my fall wishlist? emily's new book cupcakes and cashmere that's based on her lovely blog.

yesterday was the perfect day for an art project. 

i sat in the sunshine & decided to make a lil' something for our bedroom.

i have always loved ampersands - not only for their look, but also for their meaning. the symbol elegantly joins two different things together.

just like love does.

last night i got inspired.

i was browsing my instagram feed & came across this lady's work and life. she balances a husband, two little boys & a life full of illustration. lindsay has the most amazing penmanship, a creative eye and an extremely sturdy hand. i mean, look at this. and this. she's incredible. 

after looking at her illustrations, i felt the urge to get up out of my warm bed and try it for myself.

three hours later, the print above is what i got.

i love coloring. and i love drawing. when i feel sick or stressed, i take out my precious moments collection coloring book & get to work. when i write lists or make notes, i doodle mazes and patterns on my sheet. it's just what i do. why hadn't i ever made an actually art piece before?

well now that i have, i'm never looking back. expect to see more prints and illustrations from me in the future. making that piece made me feel calm and creative, and the end product made me extremely feel proud.

decorating a new space can be so inspiring. the bare walls, the empty shelves and the open spaces just waiting to be filled... but when you've just moved and are on a strict budget, doing projects yourself can be the only option.

these are some projects that i've found on the web over the last couple weeks - they're so beautiful, unique & look relatively easy to do. the best part? they add a little character to your life and to your space.

decorating is one of my favorite things. and now that we have a blank slate, i have been browsing the interwebz for some inspiration. hence the inspiration board :]

what i am envisioning is something modern and industrial, with pops of color. adam and i both love clean lines, dark woods & stainless steel. we also love bold color [well... adam loves bold color - i just like the idea of it]. so we're going try to mesh the two together & see how it looks.
